The National Medical Commission (NMC) has revised the undergraduate medical education curriculum and teaching methodology in the recent past. The revised curriculum Competency Based Undergraduate Curriculum for the Indian Medical Graduate has competencies for each subject so that a student could attain clearly-defined learning and skills. Also, there is an incorporation of integrated teaching and skill development. AETCOM and self-directed learning have been introduced. There is also an emphasis on •communication skills, •basic clinical skills and •professionalism. This is a paradigm shift from the traditional classroom-based teaching followed so far.
